Why would my mom love the cheesiness and not me?? (Sorry that was stupid) Ok, my favorite food is cheese (again sorry for another dumb comment) but it seems like the writer of this article worked more on the hook of the article more than the content about the show itself. I'm still confused about “your mother” (haha YoUR MOm). After reading the description of the show I don’t know what to expect from this show, it seems interesting to say the least. It is interesting to think about the awkward white teenage version of the temptations I guess. I don’t think I would go to see this show myself but it is nice to see what is being performed in Pittsburgh right now. I must say this is a shorter article and I don’t really know what else to say about this article. (there is literally someone hacking up a lung in the room next to me as I write this, please everyone wash your hands and keep yourself healthy this winter!!!!) I am guessing there isn’t a lot of technical elements of the show. There aren’t any review details about the tech and it seems like this type of show wouldn’t more than a few moving set pieces and props.
Okay, call me old-fashioned, but I WANT TO SEE THIS!!! So badly! I am the biggest fan of cheesy, old-school musical theatre, and this sounds absolutely perfect for me. To be honest, when I want to go see a show, I don't want to think too hard or be challenged or contemplate life. I want something silly and fun and totally ridiculous to escape from life. I think it's so funny to imagine them using plungers as mics. I've never seen The Ed Sullivan Show, and I can tell this musical is definitely catered toward the older community (hence the "your mother will love this"), but I just love the classics and would really like to experience something like this. I also think the premise is really funny of all the Catholic schoolgirls surviving and the boys dying and ending up in this weird purgatory-esque plane of existence. It just seems like such a silly and fun premise that I would really like.
My reaction to reading this article was very similar to B's. While I do often enjoy productions that really make you think about life, seeing a cheesy, silly performance such as the one described in the article is always fun to see to escape the stresses of real life. I had never heard about Forever Plaid before reading this article, and even though the story of how they passed is very saddening, I would love to see this production. the thought of these performers singing with toilet plungers instead of microphones definitely makes me laugh to myself, and I would love so see what other quirks would be included in the show. Also, to address the title of the article, my parents visited for parents' weekend last month. We did go to the cabaret theatre to see a performance that the juniors had put on. My dad saw a sign that mentioned Forever Plaid, and let me just say neither of my parents knew who they were. However, I do think they would enjoy the production if they got the chance to come see it.
