An article of importance – a review of “Or,”

'Burgh Vivant: Poet, playwright and spy Aphra Behn (Georgia Mendes) welcomes King Charles II (Dylan T. Jackson) into her life and into her bed in “Or,” a play about England’s first female playwright by Liz Duffy Adams. Once the king resumes his throne, after the death of Cromwell, he frees Aphra from Debtor’s prison. She becomes the king’s paramour, but also earns the affection of the foul-mouthed sex symbol, actress Nell Gwynne (Katie Sacks).

Having greatly enjoyed "Or," twice, I concur with everything Buzzelli said about the actors' provocative performance. Fast-paced in many areas and incredibly funny there's really nothing negative I can say about "Or,". Unexpectedly crass dialogue paired with accurate and subtly thrown in comments about gender, identity, and other social commentary made the show intellectual, educational, historic, and incredibly funny. If I wanted to be extremely nitpicky, I wasn't a big fan of the doorknobs. That's really all I've got when it comes to things I thought could have been better. And when a show is so well done and so entertaining that the only thing you can complain about is the doorknobs you know the actors, designers, director, dramaturg, and every other individual that contributed to creating this experience did Aphra Behn's story justice. I have to give props to Katie and Dylan for their amazingly distinct performances as multiple characters as well as everyone on wardrobe for making the transitions between characters so seamless.
