Celebrating the Past and the Future of the Dance Theatre of Harlem

Theatre Development Fund – TDF: Reaching a 50th anniversary is a huge milestone for any American dance company. But for the Dance Theatre of Harlem, its half-century celebration at City Center (April 10-13) represents an against-the-odds achievement as one of the first and most lauded black ballet troupes in the nation.

Harlem is a place that resonates so many feelings in the minds of so many people that it is almost negligible to deny its importance in any field, just because it is just so relevant.
The first thing that I knew about Harlem was the Harlem Renaissance and how it liberated another genre of art and its curators. That thing has stayed with me since then and that is all I could think about while reading this article.
The way this article encapsulated the essence of the dance educational and entertainment industry that started and continues to flourish in the area is just amazing to read and get to know about. The readers are given so much important information in such a concise way that it almost seems like you are reading a true story in a fun way.
The industry itself, in its continued tradition allows new dancers to find their forte and experienced dancers to hone their skills, which, given the rich cultural background of the city, is just priceless.
