27 incredibly useful Google Sheets tips
www.fastcompany.com: I’ll admit it: For the majority of my adult life, spreadsheets have remained shrouded in mystery. I’ve used them plenty, of course–to track income, compare statistics, even maintain databases for various types of work-related info–but I’ve always felt like I’ve barely been scratching the surface of what they’re able to do.

The information from this article reminds me of a lot of stuff that we learned in our google sheets lab that we had with David Holcomb in Production Resource Management. Some of these overlap with the ones that we learned in that class, some of them we didn’t learn but I don’t see the importance in that usage, and some of them we didn’t learn but could be useful if I actually decided to use Google Sheets over Excel for something. Personally, I don’t see myself using a lot of this information just because I understand Microsoft Excel more than I understand Google Sheets- and since the more complex formulas and formatting don’t overlap it can get confusing very quickly, though it is interesting to see how many different ways that Google Sheets can be utilized in many different ways. I would definitely agree with the author that spreadsheets were a sort of mystery to me for a long time, but I also have found their importance to be so great that they are a mystery worth uncovering.
I always question using google sheets as in the past I have always been told/taught that excel as the original mass spreadsheet software is the superior of the two programs with the exception of sharing. That being said as someone who is on a Mac and has never themselves purchased the Microsoft office sweet I have always been tempted to switch to sheets in case of future circumstances in which I was forced to. That being said I found this article/list really interesting and helpful. While it did have a lot of formulas and format types that are similar or identical to excel there were a few things that stuck out to me as unique and interesting. Of course the standout feature that stood out to me that I never really contemplated before was the web integration that google sheets is able to provide a user. Sheets is defiantly something that I am more likely to use just for those features especially if google progresses them further.
