The Best Drawing Tablets for Beginners

Reviews by Wirecutter | A New York Times Company: After interviewing five professional artists, researching 21 drawing tablets, and testing nine, we’ve found the Wacom Intuos Draw is the best drawing tablet for beginners. The Draw works on Windows and macOS with most popular art programs, and it offers the most precision and control of any tablet under $100. The Intuos Draw’s pen and tablet buttons are among the most customizable—along with the other Wacom tablets we tested—thanks to excellent software.

Before coming to Carnegie Mellon (month before let's say), I was trying to research drawing tablets to buy and bring with me to college. The one they recommended as their top pick was definitely a good choice for beginners. I knew this one was available but what kept me from choosing this option and ones like it was that I wanted to jump ahead and get tablets with more attributed to it, like for example a screen showing what your drawing. I wanted to avoid getting used to drawing while looking at my computer screen and not my hand. I know they said that you just get used to it but the way I draw I really need to look at my hands while drawing, plus I don’t have too much experience drawing on my computer, without a tablet anyways, I thought that a digital screen drawing tablet would work good for me. I will definitely consider The Wacom Intuos S but I think i’m going to continue my own search for a beginners drawing tablet with a digital screen.
