Equity Sets 99-Seat Deadline for LA

Stage Directions: Actors’ Equity Association and the plaintiffs in a lawsuit (Asner vs. Actors’ Equity) were unable to reach an agreement out of court. The plaintiffs brought suit against Equity’s new rules governing contracts for smaller theatres which would require theatres to pay actors a minimum wage. Equity has declared that in the wake of the breakdown they have a set a deadline for the 99-Seat Transitional Code giving theatres until Dec. 14, 2016 to transition to the new contract.
