Theater Notes: What's next for CMU alums Odom, Goldsberry and 'Hamilton' co-stars

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: “Hamilton” said farewell this week to its leading players — creator-star Lin-Manuel Miranda, Phillipa Soo and Leslie Odom Jr., the Carnegie Mellon University grad who won best actor in a musical in June. Soon, the blockbuster Broadway show that has a top-ticket price of more than $800 will lose two more stars. It was reported Wednesday that two more Tony winners, Daveed Diggs and CMU alumna Renee Goldsberry, will be leaving at a date TBA. Ms. Goldsberry has been cast in a starring role in the new Netflix sci-fi drama “Altered Carbon,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It’s so cool to see what CMU alumni are doing with their degrees. They are out there working and succeeding in doing what they love and what they went to school for. In my opinion it is such a valuable thing; to get an education in what you love and have the opportunity to use that education every day while succeeding in doing what you love. Another part of this article that really stuck out to me was the part where it talked about when Odom, O’Malley, and Gad, all CMU alumni, reminiscing about the good old college days at CMU. It’s so nice to see that CMU alumni are all out there working and creating this big community that shared a same common experience at CMU. The community that the CMU alumni have created out in the professional world is such a cool thing that comes with getting a degree from CMU.

This article was really interesting to read. Especially because of what the CMU alumni are doing and how far they have come from there days at Carnegie Mellon university. Even though there actor and mt's and I'm more interested in design and production its still the same building. When applying to college the worry is will i be successful will this college I'm paying so much more for really be beneficial. But this school is building people up to be ready for that, to go on and be successful in there fields to know the latest and the greatest that is out there. Also the fact that the CMU alumni are still all really great friend and also co workers. You go to get an education but you also build lasting relations that can carry you for a lifetime. It just shows that receiving top of the line education really gets the student out there, really sets that up farther than many other colleges. That alone doesn't have a price.
