The Australian: THE four musicians in the Amber Quartet play Mozart and Schubert with a highly tuned sense of musical gesture. Mozart and Schubert are central figures of the Viennese musical tradition and the Western classical canon. Yet these players were all students of the Central Conservatory of Music in China, a country where, until the end of the Cultural Revolution, Western classical music was suppressed.
