Signs of Good Design
sightlines.usitt.org: The sign painting PDW offered before the Milwaukee 2013 Conference & Stage Expo was engaging as well as informative, largely due to the wit and wisdom of Rachel Keebler of Cobalt Studios. Participants immediately got their hands dirty practicing techniques embellished by Ms Keebler's down-to-earth humor and uber-practicality approaching solutions.

These tips are certainly true and definitely ring true in all aspects of scenic design, especially in sign painting. The rule of KISS, or keep it simple stupid as I learned it, is true is most, if not all aspects of theatrical design because intricate designs may look good up close but sometimes they blend together at a distance and look repulsive. I will have to make sure I share these with my fellow theatre folk at home because seemingly often we fall victim to the fate of overly complex designs.
