R.I. theaters look to expand business through ‘alliance’
Providence Business News: In an alliance of the state’s “brightest theaters,” three performance venues plan to exchange their artistic, technical and management resources in an effort to bolster long-term expansion with the creation of the Rhode Island Theater Alliance..
The Mixed Magic Theatre, Contemporary Theater Co. and Epic Theatre Co. will collaborate within the Rhode Island Theater Alliance, or RITA, a partnership deal that looks to facilitate the mutual growth of each company by encouraging technicians, administration and actors to work in the cross-theater network.

As a native Rhode Islander, it is nice to see the smallest state's name appear on the blog. What really surprised me about this article was the fact that I have never heard of any of the three theater companies mentioned. It is good to see that the theatre community in RI is attempting to grow collaboratively. Being such a small state, it seems to be the perfect place to try an initiative such as this. It will be interesting in the long term to see if any of the larger theaters in the state (Trinity Rep, The Gamm) will become affiliated once the alliance gets its feet off the ground.
