Sometimes, I look at sound equipment for pure enjoyment. But on a more serious note, theatre technology advanced tremendously a few years ago, mostly surrounding ETC's s4 ERS. Have you ever used a 360q? If so, you'll understand why the ETC ERS is SO much better. #lockingshutters. Then things stayed the same for a while, as basic lighting and combination sound boards did the job fine. Now, digital sound boards are making a bigger appearance, and technically advanced roadhogs and eos's are eveywhere. It's nice to see our technology advancing!

I fell like these evenets are extremely important for the advancement of techniques as well as technology. Sound designers can use their experiences using specific technology to innovate and perfect it. Many times this is where the new technologies come for or are unveiled at conferences like these.
