Conan at the Chicago Theater
Chicago Scenic Studios, Inc.: When Conan O’Brien brought his TBS talk show “Conan” to the Chicago Theatre recently, he featured a wild and irreverent mix of all things Chicago including celebrities, sports, and landmarks. The four days of shows kicked off the 2012 edition of the TBS “Just for Laughs Chicago Comedy Festival”.

Overall, I thought the concept of the set was nice. It brought together everything that Chicago is famous for. BUT, I'm a little disappointed by how many pieces were printed out. One of the charms of Chicago is the history of their theatre district. Call me old fashioned, but I would have liked to see that charm through hand-painted scenery. Another problem with the printed buildings is the lighting of the facades. Some buildings are back lit and look as though it is night, while others have a fully highlighted side as if the sun were shining on it. The whole skyline set is getting a little boring now, though. We see it on everything nowadays: news stations, Jay Leno, Dave Letterman, etc. I guess I'm looking for something new.
