Stage Directions: Congrats to the 10 recipients of the American Theatre Wing’s 2012 National Theatre Company Grants. The companies will receive $10,000 for general operating support (An unrestricted grant? A rarity these days…) The companies were chosen according to grant guidelines that specified they be an established, but still relatively young, theatre company that “nurtured a community of artists in ways that strengthen and demonstrate the quality, diversity, and dynamism of American theatre,” among other requirements. And the recipients are: Actors’ Shakespeare Project, ArtsWest, Know Theatre of Cincinnati, NC Stage Company, The New Jersey Repertory Company, CityRep, The Rogue Theatre, The Play Company, The Theatre @ Boston Court and Upstream Theater.
