J-O-B TD


Dallas Children’s Theater, one of the nation’s leading organizations performing for youth and families, seeks a TECHNICAL DIRECTOR to lead the scenery department.  DCT produces 10-12 productions annually, including a national tour, and 3-5 special events. The TD oversees all aspects of scenic planning and implementation for productions and events in DCT’s Baker Theater and Studio Theater at Rosewood Center for Family Arts.  Additionally, the TD supervises the load-in and maintenance for DCT productions at downtown Dallas’ AT&T Performing Arts Center’s Winspear Opera House, The City of Dallas’ Center for Performing Arts, and other venues.  The TD manages a full time ATD, Master Carpenter, and Scenic Artist in addition to 2 – 5 carpenters at any given time.  Minimum qualifications include at least two years professional theater experience as a TD or ATD or degree in technical direction, AutoCAD proficiency, and knowledge and experience in the areas of: construction techniques, cost estimation, automation, welding, rigging, and safety standards.  The ideal candidate will be energetic with a team spirit and possess a passion for theater and technology.  DCT offers a competitive salary and benefits package.  Send resume, letter of interest, and 3 references to Melissa Cashion, Production Manager, at melissa.cashion@dct.org or 5938 Skillman St. Dallas, TX 75231.
