Stage preview: Twyla Tharp's 'Come Fly Away' explores the magic of love with Frank Sinatra music

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: When it comes to weaving together songs by iconic singers to create a loose-yet-captivating story line, choreographer Twyla Tharp is a decorated veteran. Her crossover ballets, which meld a traditional dance vocabulary with modern moves and nods to popular culture, have celebrated the carefree times of teens with Beach Boys music in "Deuce Coupe" (1973), spotlighted the experiences of youths in the Vietnam War era with Billy Joel tunes in "Movin' Out" (2002) and given audiences a glimpse at the happenings of a low-rent traveling circus with Bob Dylan selections in "The Times They Are A-Changin' " (2006). Along the way, she's racked up a bevy of honors, including a Tony Award for best choreography.
