Couple's passions merged in $1M CMU endowment

TribLIVE: Considering their chosen professions, it's only natural that a couple who met while attending Carnegie Mellon University would consider funding an endowment that aims to help students interested in pursuing projects that merge technology and the arts. Edward H. Frank, who graduated from CMU in 1985 and went on to become a vice president for computer giant Apple Inc., and his wife, renowned artist Sarah G. Ratchye, a 1983 CMU alumna, have donated $1 million to establish the Fund for Art at the Frontier. It will be used to finance the creation of "new works of art that push boundaries and inspire imagination," according to a statement released on Monday.
