Assistant Technical Director
Description:
Anticipated opening for 2012-2013. Seeking dynamic arts
teacher to teach a broad range of courses in their fields of artistic
specialty. Candidates should possess specialized training, experience or
expertise in the arts and be mission driven, innovative, flexible, and eager to
work in a fast-paced school environment.
Instructor – Assistant Technical Director.
Responsibilities include classroom and lab instruction for High School students
and production support for Arts Academy Theater, Music, and Dance
presentations. The ATD assists with the development of technical designs,
budgeting, planning, and construction schedules; supervises construction of
scenic elements; and provides support for booked in events. The Arts Academy
program is fully staffed and includes a Production Manager, Lighting Supervisor,
Costumer and Set Designer.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• the design, implementation, and assessment of lessons to
meet the needs of all learners
• recording of daily attendance and the preparation of
grades and comments on interim and quarterly reports for all students
• participation in meetings or other communications with
students and/or parents regarding student progress, as appropriate
• collaboration with non-arts academic teachers to enhance
student achievement across core non-arts academic subjects
• representation of their arts department at student
concerts, competitions, productions, and student recruitment activities
• meeting with parents of current students at an evening
open house in the fall
• participation in regular faculty and department meetings,
as well as professional development activities during the week before school
begins and throughout the school year
• preparation of documentation necessary to support
department and school events, activities, and curriculum development
Requirements Eligibility for a Connecticut State
Department of Education Adjunct Arts Instructor Permit required.
Requirements for permit eligibility:
(1) hold a bachelor's degree from an institution of higher
education accredited by the Board of Governors of Higher Education or
regionally accredited,
(2) have a minimum of three years of work experience in the
arts, or one year of work experience and two years of specialized schooling
related to such applicant's artistic specialty, and
(3) at least one hundred eighty hours of cumulative
experience working with children, in a private or public setting, including,
but not limited to, afterschool programs, group lessons, children's theater,
dance studio lessons and artist-in-residence programs, or at least two years
experience as a full-time faculty member at an institution of higher education.
OR
Had been employed by an eligible inter-district arts magnet
school prior to July 1, 2009, and for at least one year.
