Musicians to Protest Dance Company at Lincoln Center

backstage.com: For the first time in Lincoln Center history, a major ballet company, the Paul Taylor Dance Company will dance to pre-recorded music and not a live orchestra. Local 802 of the American Federation of Musicians has chastised the Paul Taylor Dance Company and believes that the performance for this evening, March 13, may set a detrimental precedent for future shows at the cultural institution. The union plans to meet outside the David H. Koch Theater from 6 to 7 p.m. to leaflet audience members. A brass quintet will also perform two musical numbers at 6:30 p.m. on Lincoln Center's steps.

really? protesting over whether or not your performance spends 450,000 on live accompaniment. this seems fairly ridiculous i can understand being a fan of tradition but to actually protest over it seems a little much. Hopefully for the sake of their cause the leaflets might help with informing the audience members with the changes that have been made to the performance. I personally think its a little over the edge, a well done recording can do the same job.
