AutoCAD 2013 is (Almost) Here

Though I'm not very well-versed in AutoCAD, it's still interesting to me to read what they're changing in this version. Sometimes I wonder if software (like AutoCAD) really needs to release an update every year. Often it seems that this just creates problems between files created with older and newer versions of the program (which has apparently happened, once again, in AutoCAD 2013). This (as well as the cost to replace your software) usually does not outweigh the improvements each update brings.
Also, I notice that AutoCAD is becoming even more 3-D centric. It sounds exciting, but also very confusing.
What I think would be particularly useful in an update is a GOODversion for Mac. While I'm here at CMU, I can use AutoCAD on a PC in the clusters on campus, but happens after I graduate and I don't have access to a PC? I suppose people who need to use CAD on a regular basis are more inclined to own a PC over a Mac, but I still think AutoDesk has the obligation to provide software of equal quality for both platforms.
