Huh. So they are hiring this director famous for his camp productions to try and revitalize a show that failed because it was too campy and now wants to go in an opposite route... this is interesting logic. They definitely will have to focus more on the book than on the movie, I would say, because any movie made in the 80's, especially that one, is probably going to be saturated with camp. That being said I can't really imagine a Carrie that doesn't take place in the 80's since they are so connected in my mind. Bringing it to an intimate theater will likely help in reducing the camp-musical effect. Interesting to see where the design will be taken here.
