Pillow Project's improvisation leads to artistic synergy

Post Gazette: You never know what you may find in the dark at the top of the stairs, where Pearlann Porter holds her Second Saturdays at the aptly named Space Upstairs in Point Breeze.
Ms. Porter's company, The Pillow Project, takes on a new configuration and conceptual emphasis with each monthly outing, much like an artistic shapeshifter.

This kind of collaboration makes for a really successful entertainment event that brings the whole Pittsburgh community together. I wish that the article had included some kind of recording/artifact of the performance, because I feel like that could have been another interesting component of the whole event that was seemingly overlooked- maybe selling/exhibiting the drawings that were a product of the musical and dance improvisations, or some sort of video to reach the people who weren't able to attend. Although it does speak to the nature of the event that a recording or something similar doesn't exist, since it was seemingly all born out of improvisation and cementing it into a photograph or video might change its connotation. The Pillow Project is a really innovative dance company, I think more people should make an effort to go out and see them.
