Variety: "Cameron Mackintosh will produce a new stage musical based on the 1984 British screen comedy, 'A Private Function,' originally scripted by Alan Bennett."
While I'm all for the revival of plays that have been off the stage for over a century, this play seems to lack a lot of modern day relevance. There are some plays that truthfully do not hold as much modern day relevance as others still running, but at least those plays reached a level to be considered classic. I do not get the sense that this play has come close to this status, and fear for how well it will be received by the modern audience.
