Union that works DeVos Performance Hall volunteers for wage freeze when working for four local arts groups
MLive.com: "Stagehands working in DeVos Performance Hall offered to take wage freezes for the next two years when working with the four locally based arts organizations that are the primary users of DeVos Performance Hall."

It's nice, in this economy, to see stagehand unions being reasonable. The green page has been littered recently with articles about unions striking, or otherwise doing things which harm the organizations they work for. While I understand that unions are not always (in fact seldom are) the bad guy, it seems like both sides need to be a little more understanding about the current economic situation. This is the first example I've seen of a Union making sacrifices for the sake of the arts.
