‘Angels in America’ to Be Revived at Signature Next Year
NYTimes.com: "As part of its 2010-11 season dedicated to the work of Tony Kushner, Signature Theater Company will mount the first New York revival of his Pulitzer- and Tony-winning “Angels in America” since it closed on Broadway in 1994, Signature’s artistic director, James Houghton, said on Tuesday."

I've only seen the HBO version of Angels in America, but the script is so moving that I cannot wait for the chance to see it live. Unfortunately, like any stellar script, theres always someone who wants to turn it upside down and pour out all the goodness. I just hope this director wants to keep all its best parts for us to see.
This is the perfect time for this story to be revived. With the political air the way it is around the country it is an important time to remember these issues. I am surprised and interested to hear that the plays will sometimes be running back to back. That is a lot of theater! It would be an interesting experience though. A bonding experience with your fellow audience members, perhaps.
I am very excited to hear about this. Like Elize, I have read the script and seen the HBO version, but I have never seen a stage production. I was totally blown away by the HBO version, and I have very high hopes for this new production. This play and its characters mean many things to many people, and are so relevant in this time that we live in, as they were when first written. It is particularly exciting that they plan to perform both parts of this piece. Most people never get this opportunity.
I'm very excited to see this production coming again to NYC - I hope it transfers to Broadway.
I'm very interested, like the article mentioned, to see how the signature copes with the scale of Mr. Kushner's play in their small 'intimate' space. Angels in America is well know for its many technical challenges.
