Right Here: GLUE gets young people to stick to the Rust Belt

Post Gazette: "Ms. Wilson describes GLUE as 'an online resource of people and ideas.' The main goal of the exchange is to connect like-minded people in Rust Belt cities, including Pittsburgh, Columbus, Detroit, Buffalo and Cleveland."

I am unsure how Glue will really get started... That being said, I think Pittsburgh has a GReAT public transit system. Coming from Boston where there are really no busses and the T stops at 11:45 usually, pittsburgh is wonderful. I think the buses are clean and safe and its great that we have "free" passes. I am content.

I think its great to try to open up pittsburgh to the outside world. It seems that there is some aspect of the haves and have nots at least when it comes to culture here. there are people who are here because they need it and the people who think its the most useless part of the city and it seems they have no interaction at all.

Pittsburgh has MASSIVE problems with public transportation. A looming strike in the future, and constant route cuts often leave people in outer neighborhoods high and dry. PAT isn't too bad, I guess, if you're a college student and you only need to go to Downtown/Oakland/Squirrel Hill, but getting from neighborhood to neighborhood is much more difficult if you're not going towards Downtown.

The amount of buses that are in service now pales in comparison to when I started going to school here, and even then, you couldn't catch a bus at 5. Now it's not uncommon to have to wait upwards of an hour.

So no, Pittsburgh's transit system is in a lot of trouble right now, especially come December 1st. http://www.wpxi.com/news/17898599/detail.html?rss=burg&psp=news
