i think what is so successful about cirque designs, including this one, is that they pay such close attention to the little details. for example this designer for Believe created a proscenium that looked like a traditional carved proscenium, but when a viewer looks closer they notice that it is actually made of very unexpected details. these details give the richness and complexity to the cirque designs.
I wonder how this is going to be received by Cirque audiences. Perhaps they are relying on Angle's magic and illusion to cary the story and the message, but just from the description, the design seemed sort of underwhelming. I'm not doubting any of the designers, being somewhat familiar with their other work, however, I'm concerned that they intentionally downplayed their respective designs in order to make the illusions more prominent. I hope Cirque audiences won't be dissapointed, hoping to experience the multimedia and multi-sensory spectacle they are used to with Cirque.
