Broadway discovers teen appeal
Variety: "Broadway, too, has discovered the Jonas Brothers demo, as producers plot to lure tween auds, and depictions of adolescent angst gain artistic cred, thanks in part to 2007 Tony winner 'Spring Awakening.'"

I don't think that this show is the first to discover teen appeal or audiences. We first had Spring Awakening that not only was about teens, but widely appealed to teens. There are also others shows such as Legally Blonde and Wicked. All shows now want to produce a show that not only appeals to teens but adults too. This is just the first show that has an all teen cast. Just another layer that appeals to teens.
13fans.com is absolutely terrifying. I'm starting to wonder when the whole AIMspeak phenomenon will die.. I saw a book the other day that consisted entirely of AIM conversations between three teenage girls.
I fear for the future..
I really doubt this is going to last too long; there is only so long that a typical broadway-goer can stand the chatspeak and angsty singing of 13 year olds. At least "SPRING AWAKENING" dealt with good issues, relationships with adults, and it was done in such a way that had a more mature polish to it.
I'm sure it'll appeal greatly to the teens. Whether or not the adults will want to go that often, I don't know.
I think this show will have some success if it manages to get a firm grasp on the teenage viewers. I'm sure fans of Jason Robert Brown will want to initially check it out as well. I'm not sure how long it will last if it is only young adults who are interested in it, though, because as the article states, it is the parents that are purchasing the tickets.
