I really liked doing this project as a sophomore. It was fun to put so much time and energy in a project, and instead of just throwing it away after it was due, you get to see it come to life onstage and see how the actors used them to tell a story. I still have my mask. It's hanging on the wall. I also still have all the art supplies, which I may bring up to the thrift store and help showcase out...

After watching the sophomores work on their mask for so long, it was incredible to see the project to come together. The movement and actors really worked well with the masks. The story was told very well. This was really a very fascinating conservatory hour.

Yet again, the cohesive nature of the program amazes me. We read Mother Courage in Foundations earlier this semester, the sophomores made masks for in their Design for the Stage class based on the play, and the senior actors created a movement piece based on play. Being able to see the play for the first time in forum it was presented was a great first interaction with it. I don't believe that the performance would have been incredibly impactful as a movement or masque piece singularly, however, the combination of two, especially with the addition of a live band, was something wholly other. Bravo Sophomore designers and Senior Actors!

i really enjoyed both the performance and the talk back. typically i find talk backs very one sided or unbalanced, but with this one i found that many of the elements of the production were discussed and many different members of the production spoke their minds. i thought it was very successful.

Those masks were really inventive. I loved the metal pipe mask. The piece was great, and while a lot of the story got lost in the movement, it was still very interesting.

Wow i was extremely impressed with the movement piece, masks, the overall production as a whole. There were so many great moments that i could hardly pick my favorite but if i had to...i would have to say the part when katrin starts banging the drum and she gets shot. The way the actress slowly snaked down the actor posing as a tree and fell to the ground was just amazing. The use of her body was immaculate.
