Fire damages Loveland Stage Co.

Cincinnati.Com: "Temporary lights to illuminate newly donated $6,000 stained glass windows at a local theater company sparked a fire late Monday that destroyed the building and caused about $300,000 in damages, a fire official said today."

That SUCKS. Alot. It makes me wonder who put the clip lights up. It's just a really stupid mistake that is going to make life really hard for those company members in the near future. It seems like it's a real community, and when something like this happens it's very sad. It's also very stupid. For a decision that wasn't thought through very well, it's causing alot of pain. But really, who puts a couple of clip lights on an office chair in a room full of costumes?

DUMB A$$E$. How clips lights to chairs, and how are their costumes stored. I am curious as to which department set the lights up??? If it was production... well... yeah...
I hope for the company's and community's sake they are able to pull together enough funds to repair the building or get a new one. Best of all of course is that no one was sersiously injured or killed... But really... this could have been easily avoided by using some brain power. (Kinda sucks for the people who just donated and built the $6000 stained glass window... )

I just keep thinking about all the stuff they must have lost. Decades of costumes and props just gone. Guess they really don't need that extra storage anymore. Just goes to show you that clip lights and fabric cause fire, duh. I wonder what the window looks like now. Looks like it was a pretty neat space to be able to perform in.

OUCH!! So it always sucks when you break something, trying to make an improvement. Its even worse here though, because they didn't just break the thing that was the cause for the fire, but everything else they have as well. I also agree with chase that they probably lost so many resources, from costumes, to old archives and anything they were currently working on.

Bummer dude. cliplights on chairs just seems like a common sense issue. For all the time we spend in the industry trying to deal with fire issues, these sorts of things are reminders that it's worth the time and cost to be safe.

Someone must feel like an idiot. This sounds like the kind of mistake anyone can make though; Leaving clips lights on near some fabric during a production. It is ufortunate that so much was lost in this fire, but it serves as a harsh reminder to everyone in the industry that we have to be aware of all the things happening onstage and backstage, because the simplest things can cause significant misery.
