Wybron Introduces Infogate for the iPhone
Briefingroom on LiveDesignOnline: "Scheduled for release at LDI 2008, Infogate for the iPhone gathers invaluable feedback from lighting equipment and uses a wireless signal to transmit the data to an iPhone or iPod. With that wireless signal, users can inspect and manipulate equipment without being chained to a booth, board, or computer."

As an iPhone user, I am always looking at different technologies that can use these handy pocket devices to control lighting, currently using VNC technology to connect to a laptop on a system is the easiest, but very complex way to do this. Infogate seems like it would be a much more streamlined way to achieve control as well as view important system data on the go. It would be very interesting if users could select different features to connect to the internet, and be able to look at the system, from around the world.
I think the entire concept of integrating the iphone into theatre is a remarkable concept. This idea that at a production table, in the catwalks, backstage, in the dimmer room and even on your way in to the building, you can be connected to the system is, in my mind brilliant. Imagine getting a text message when the 3rd mover on the 1st electric won't strike or your upstage left hazer is out of fluid. It seems that it would not only elevate some of the daily checks but also make you aware of problems...before they become problems.
If only apple didn't make the iphone i would own one. The concept they are exploring isn't new but rather going from wireless palm pilot platform to the iphone.
Still, I think now a days things like this will actually start to catch on with technology being our constant companion.
