Gallery: Cosplay Abounds at Zombie Fest in Pittsburgh
I09: "We've already shown you zombie Simpsons today, but where were Zombie Bride, Zombie Jesus, and Zombie Sarah Palin this weekend? They were chilling with over a thousand of their undead cohorts at the Monroeville Mall in Pittsburgh, where the horrific and the consumer-driven collided for a gory two days."

A lot of these people did really good makeup jobs.... I'm pretty surprised. I had a few friends who wanted to go check this out, but sadly, they were unable, so I don't have any first and stories of how it was. However I am pretty creeped out by some of the zombies, especially the zombie family, where the mom is eating her daughter.
That is some amazing makeup. I was really surprised by the level of the scars and such. I don't know if I would want to be walking around the mall with all those zombies! Its a little creepy but also very cool.
we always joke that Pittsburgh is the town that zombies even started to appear in. it just seems like the monroevile mall is just a perfect place with historical meanings to hold this event at. some of those pictures are actually really good
I would just like to reveal just how much of a total nerd and pop culture junkie I am by saying YAY COSPLAY (even though it's just internet shorthand for dressing up in costume now). Zombies honestly freak me out, but it makes my fangirl heart happy to see any sort of insane subculture coming together to just be weird. For amateur costumes, some of these are amazing. Pittsburgh is kind of cool in that movies and entertainment are so ingrained in our history that things like a ZombieFest can be a perfectly acceptable event.
I love the fact that people are finally coming out and admitting to being a little socially off. If I'd known this was happening I probably would've gone to this madness. I really enjoy weird stuff like this, and the fact that it seems to be really well done (some of the costumes look pretty damn impressive) just makes it even better. The fact that it was located in a mall makes me even happier. I'm willing to bet that there were several people there who had no idea what was going on who were wonderfully weirded out by the events.
The level of finish on the makeup is great. I had friends who use to be zombies for theme parks, and the theme parks had zombie makeup catalogs that were chalk full of awesome stuff. We also had airbrush makeup booths that made application really easy.
This is so awesome. I love the freaky contrast of going to a mall that remains the same while everyone is a very impressive looking zombie. If I had known about this I would have gone. It must have looked so great.
