The Dallas Morning News: "That's the startling beginning of Cabaret Unkempt, the final offering of the 13th International Theatre Festival, sponsored by Teatro Dallas and South Dallas Cultural Center. It opened a two-night stand at the center on Thursday.
Since Cabaret Unkempt is advertised as a show about the problems persons 'of size' encounter in a prejudiced society, Elizabeth Doud's slender build is almost as startling as her silence – which extends through the whole performance."

this sounds like a very intriguing cabaret. they are so often very permiscuous and sexy, so it is interesting to put this different spin on it. i see a lot of art done concerning body image in america and i am wondering if the trend is as present in other countries?
While I think this is an interesting piece of theatre, and carries an important message, I worry that this new, very modern work will become a niche for "non-traditional" actors as a kind of way around the traditional casting problem. I feel like it is just as important to encourage casting different ethnicities, body types, or ages in more conventional theatre as much as it is to give these actors roles of their own.
