In my opinion, when an artist chooses a piece to create, he is creating art as a result of suffering. Very often these days, artists will create work as a result of something that has upset them over the years, politics, military or economics. In some ways, it gives purpose to their pieces, as if they are creating awareness from something that has affected the entire world.
