So, here's the thing. I feel like, at least people I have talked to, have not talked in a positive way about BroadwayCon, perhaps poking fun at because of its name or something silly. However, after reading this article and the itinerary that is planned and the subjects of the talks to be delivered, I would sign up in a heartbeat. Some of these topics are so relevant to those that are interested in design and production, and I think that what this article does a great job of saying is that, BroadwayCon is not just for superfans of musicals with a popular actor. Certain topics like, "Making Theater Accessible for All Audiences", "Breaking Down a Broadway Budget", "PAs Who Made It Big", and "The Art of Stage Management" all sound like very applicable and amazing subjects that I would love to hear a discussion on! If the convention can live up to what its promising on its itinerary, than I would definitely be interested in the future.

Honestly, I had never looked into BroadwayCon because I figured it would be a bunch of sing-slings and panels about if Marius should've been with Cosette or Eponine. However, after looking at this article, I'm a little bummed that I'm not going. I wouldn't have the time to go anyway, but if I did, I think it would be a really educational experience. Almost all of the panels I saw in this article were panels I would love to go to. I didn't see any panels that fit my expectations, which I'm very happy about. If this becomes an annual thing, and the panels stay like what they were this year, I think this would be very beneficial. This could even be a good trip for students, if CMU wanted to run a trip for production majors to New York for this event.

My reaction was almost identical to Ben's. I've been hearing about this and imaging an event like Comic Con, with people all dressed up as their favorite characters and geeking out about the latest Broadway star gossip and wearing t-shirts with Christian Borle's face on them. But this...sounds amazing. This is an event I would go to and run all over the place to try to make every program. Like Ben, I was also really excited by "The Art of Stage Management," "PAs Who Made It Big," "Breaking Down a Broadway Budget," and "Company Management." But I also think this would be such a great opportunity to learn a little in each discipline! I would be so excited to go to "Producing 101," "How to Market a Show," "Broadway Set Design," "Stage a Show," "Children in Art," "Theatrical Criticism"....The list goes on and on. The only thing I would have liked to know more about is who exactly would be involved in these programs, AKA where is my $95 going exactly? I am very excited to see where this conference goes and how it develops. This is definitely an event I would like to attend at some point.
