Trip into another dimension on Meow Wolf's first dark ride

www.themeparkinsider.com: The popular arts entertainment group Meow Wolf just debuted its first-ever ride experience in Denver. The city’s Elitch Gardens is now home to “Kaleidoscape,” an immersive shooter ride that takes theme park visitors on a dazzling, neon-tinted journey “through the multiverse.”

I have the unique perspective on this as someone who has actually been to Elitch Gardens, albeit not on this ride. Elitch itself is a niche theme park, kind of like Kennywood. I've lived in Colorado most of my life, but I've only been a handful of times. I've never seen anything like this ride at Elich, and while I wouldn't say this is Disney quality, it's definitely unique and different in a way I haven't seen before. The property that Elitch occupies has just been purchased, and theoretically it's going to be bulldozed and "relocated" in the next 2 years, so I wonder what is going to happen to this ride, since it's brand new and deserves to be experienced for a long time. Most of the rides in Elitch are outdated and run down, but it holds a special place in peoples hearts as their theme park. With new rides like this, I wonder if it can be saved, rather than turned into apartment buildings like the plans dictate.

I’ve written a comment on Meow Wolf before but every time I see something new about it I feel compelled to write another. House of Eternal Return in Santa Fe was the most inspiring and thrilling art installation/ exhibit/ interactive environment I’ve ever been able to go see. From what I could gather from the video provided in the article, ‘Kaleidoscape,’ seems a lot like the Men in Black ride at Universal since you’re give laser gun to shoot at targets. The big differences between them though is that while the MIB one is centered around just aliens, this one sends the rider through a multitude of dimensions, worlds, and styles of art. While this ride looks like it’ll be a lot of fun, I’m more excited for the new museum to open up, especially if it’s even bigger than the one I saw before. I love interactive worlds and installations more than anything, and I can’t wait to be able to go here.

I’ve seen a preview of this company’s, Meow Wolf, work in another article critiquing interactive dark rides. From the small clip shown in the other article I wanted to know more about the attractions they make, I lucked out when I saw this article. Their immersive ride “Kaleidoscape” sounds immensely fun to be apart of making it and riding it. I always wanted to ride in something like the company Meow Wolf creates, growing up limited to rides found in most theme parks, I wished for something more creative, not based off some franchise movie blockbuster. Nothing is wrong with those movie inspired rides found at universal studios, it's just that I wanted to see some more variety done with the medium. I love their choice of making this ride immersive through having the riders shoot the surroundings, I feel like they used the laser gun attribute found in many interactive rides successfully in their own unique way.
