Theatre Communications Group Launches The Willa Kim Costume Design Scholarship
Showbiz Chicago: Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, is pleased to announce the launch of The Willa Kim Costume Design Scholarship. Administered by TCG with support from The Estate of Willa Kim, the Scholarship will provide exceptionally talented costume designers who are enrolled in a university or professional training program with the opportunity to supplement their fine arts training in drawing and painting. The Scholarship honors costume designer Willa Kim’s legacy and her life’s work as a pioneer, legend, and inspiration for many of today’s theatre artists.

I wish there were more like this because I would love the money. I am also sure I am not the “type” that they would pick for this scholarship. I know a Willa because William Ivey Long was a good friend of hers. I saw them in a video once when he went to visit her at her house and he was watching her paint with watercolors. All I could think is that I hope this is the relationship me and Susan have when I go visit her when she is 115 absorbing all of her genius like my Dumbledore. But I would also really like to get this scholarship too, I would also like to reach a point in my career someday that I can also start my own scholarship fund so I can help even one person be less stressed about school and focus on the art more.
