I didn’t realize how many important recent commissions had come from or premiered at The Oregon Shakespeare festival. This work has been extremely influential. Not only are these pieces diverse, but they all depict different experiences from people in different places in different times. I think it's interesting that Rauch credits his family and personal life for why he has made theater so inclusive. I wonder how Oregeon Shakes is going continue its mission. Hopefully Rauch has put policies in place and created a culture of diversity that will continue in his absence. Also, there may be a diverse range of plays that are currently being commissioned that will be performed once they are finished. Nonetheless, I’m excited to see Rauch will do at The Perelman Center in New York. Hopefully, he will continue to incorporate diversity in New York like the way he did in Oregon.
