Ticketmaster Facing Class-Action Lawsuits for Alleged Anti-Consumer Policies
www.ticketnews.com: At least two class action lawsuits are brewing against Ticketmaster in the wake of this week’s reporting by the CBC and Toronto Star on the company’s pro-broker resale operations. One stems from a Regina, Saskatchawan-based lawyer who told CTV he has been working on the lawsuit for six months. The other is based in the United States, where the Hagens Berman firm is seeking consumers who feel they have been affected by Ticketmaster’s policies to form the basis of a lawsuit here.

LiveNation and Ticketmaster are all about the money. They don’t really have any care about how they sell tickets, even if it is illegal, so long as they get the money. Between the tickets fees that each company charges on top of the regular ticket price and the price of those tickets, consumers are getting gouged. It’s getting to the point where people are finding it harder to go out and see shows because of the rising costs of prices. It will be interesting to see what these lawsuits will spell out. It will also be interesting to see what response will come out of each of those companies in terms of new policies and procedures. The big fight right now is that each company is engaging in unfair practices regarding brokers in an effort to get even more money out of consumers. It’s all about greed now and no longer about the entertainment. I think there needs to be a crackdown federally regarding what ticket companies can do and not do but with the current political environment and who is in control in congress (pro business) that is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
