Variety: Nearly 1,000 SAG-AFTRA members picketed the Los Angeles office of advertising agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty on Thursday, a week after the union struck the company.
“BBH is trying to walk out on its contractual obligations and we are taking a stand,” said President Gabrielle Carteris. “As union actors, we must hold the line against those attempting to undercut our collective value and our ability to sustain a career.”

It seems like this situation has already escalated at a fairly fast pace, as I know they only announced the strike in the past few weeks. I’m always in favor of people demonstrating and standing up for fair working conditions, but I’m not sure how effective this picket has been. Bartle Bogle Hegarty seem to be pretty much unmoved by this, as the statement that they gave was almost identical to the one before the picket. It really doesn’t seem like they think this strike is going to affect them or their business at all. Although I hope they’re able to reach some kind of negotiated agreement I think I agree with this. There are so many non-union actors out there, and the market is really over saturated. Since this is an advertising company and not a big movie studio their work doesn’t really depend that much on using celebrities. This will effect their ability to use any big-name actors, which could potentially upset some of their clients. However, I have a feeling that this company will just continue on using non-union labor until this is resolved and that they will be largely unaffected.
