CBC News: A brand-new Montreal theatre company, billed as "Canada's first professional theatre company dedicated to celebrating Muslim stories," is hoping to bring a diversity of voices to the stage.
The Silk Road Theatre Company aims to provide a platform and a space for minority voices to come to the forefront.
The curtain will rise on the inaugural show — The Domestic Crusaders — on Sept. 27 at Espace Knox in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce.

Certain article titles are enough to attract someone to open it and read it. And this is what happened with me. The fact that there is a theater company that is dedicated to only showing Muslim stories feels amazing.
Having grown up in a surrounding where everyone is equal takes me to a point where I feel bad when certain groups of the society are stereotyped or secluded because of something that someone from that "group" did. It is unfair and this is something that the Muslims have been subjected to since a long time:they have been segregated and subjected to injustice. There part of the culture is always shown in a way that is condscending, not necessarily on the same page as the other groups have been placed.
That is why it delights me to know that there is somewhere in this world where muslim stories are going to be showcased without any prejduice.
This article made me happy and excited to read. No one can say this enough, it is important that people are represented in the media and on stage in the best light. Enough stories are not being told and that is not fair. Theater is important when it comes to changing the narrative that has been attributed to certain races and religion. I am so glad that there is a theater that is dedicated to doing this. There are stereotypes created by people for people and this creates bias that we exhibit without knowing and it is important that we challenge those biases. I hope that other theaters pick this up and we continue to change the way the world views and sees things.
