Watch a virtual reality Haptx glove in action

Boing Boing: This Ready Player One fan, who wasn't an admirer of virtual reality, test drives the Seattle-based Haptx haptic glove. The experience converts him into a VR "believer." The Haptx glove isn't yet on the market, but according to their press release, will be available to "select customers" this year.

WHAT THE HECK!!! Every time I read about virtuality technology it just gets cooler and cooler. This one blows my mind. I was expecting to just see the glove allow the user to interact with the virtual reality world, but I was not expecting for the glove to let the user FEEL the objects and the virtual world. And the fact that the glove's sensors allows for you to feel the differences between the objects – like the fox versus the spider versus the rain versus the confetti – is absolutely amazing. This technology will be revolutionary to the world of video games. I also think that there could be a really cool application for this technology and media installation art, especially with this added interactive portion. An artist could create a world and then allow viewers to take turns exploring the world they have created. As I have been reading more and more articles about virtual reality, world of this technology has slowly grown on me, so I can imagine how this experience would change this man's mind on how he views virtual reality.
