Spring Theater Preview: Mean Girls, Harry Potter, and More

www.vulture.com: This spring, theater is going big — at least in terms of spectacle, length, and expense. The Broadway productions lining up like 747s to land before the April 26 cutoff for Tonys qualification include two massive two-part shows from London (Angels in America and Harry Potter), two revivals of classic musicals (Carousel and My Fair Lady), and two musical adaptations of pop-culture-defining movies about dangerous blondes (Mean Girls and Frozen). Between those behemoths, Broadway’s also offering up an array of plays (stacked with A-list casts, as has become the habit), while a few Off Broadway offerings opening amid the spring chaos might offer a bit of a respite.

This season of broadway shows seem very weak. Nothing is an true original musical, it seems that every musical is based off of a movie. This is kinda of sad as originality seems to be very rare now a days. But I do understand that it is super risky to try something brand new and spend 15-20 million dollars on it. However, there are some shows on this list that I do want to see. The bands visit is supposed to be beautify and seems the show that will win the tony for best musical. I also want to see Mean girls really badly. Last summer, I had dinner with the shows lyricist and its interesting to see how our conversation about the show ends up on stage. Another show im excited about is harry potter. They recently released photos of the theatre and it looks stunning. Hopefully this summer I will see a lot of these.
