Edward Snowden to (Sort Of) Appear Onstage with Daniel Radcliffe in Public Theater’s ‘Privacy’

Flavorwire: The New York Times reports that Edward Snowden will guest star via video conference from Moscow in Donmar Warehouse’s production of Privacy at New York’s Public Theater, alongside an in-the-flesh Daniel Radcliffe this Saturday. (Radcliffe is starring throughout the play’s run). The play’s creators, James Graham and Josie Rourke, have sought to collaborate with the former NSA agent since they conceived the play three years ago.

I have always been fascinated by the controversy of Edward Snowden and his leaking of confidential information for the benefit of American citizens. His story is extremely interesting, hollywood has taken a liking to his life path and has made several screen adaptation of it, but this is definitely the first instance of his story being told in the theater that I have heard of. I think it’s interesting that Snowden will actually have scripted dialogue with the characters of the performance. It will be interesting to see what will be said by him and what will be held in the performance, and for that reason I will definitely be keeping up with this performance.
