Bust Ghosts at NYC Ghostbusters VR Experience
The Mary Sue: Today, New Yorkers can head over to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Time Square to catch the opening of THE VOID’s “Ghostbusters: Dimension,” a virtual reality experience that lets fans become a ghostbuster. We only get a super short clip of the wireless, full-body experience, but it looks cool enough for me to drag myself into the horrible noisy mess that is Time Square.

I love the advancement of technology that allows fans to experience art in new, inclusive ways. The rapid advancement in VR technology allows fans to insert themselves into a world and personally interact with their environment, and I think that VR will be the new tie between art and programmers. Giving artists the ability to personally connect with every viewer elevates the viewing experience, but also means that some artists will need to learn how to use VR software, or be able to collaborate with experts to accurately translate their design into a "reality". The future of interactive art is certainly an artist who can both create their vision and execute it via software. I guess similar to a lighting designer, they'll need to understand both the creative and the technical aspects of their art. Also Ghostbusters! That's super exciting on its own.
