Bagel Smart Tape Measure
GearHungry: How clever can a tape measure get? Quite, apparently. The Bagel Smart Tape Measure boasts a pull-out Dyneema string — strong enough to withstand 112 pounds of force, though not that you’d ever put that on it — and tells you just much you’ve pulled out on its LCD screen.

I think this is really cool. I have to admit that as a no frills type of person, I'd probably be too embarrassed to use this tool, but it is a clever feat of design and engineering with how relevant it actually is aside. Something I am curious about though is how durable this is, because it looks very space-age and modern and cool but it looks from the pictures that it might not withstand getting dropped and whacked against things as by cheap tape measure does. to the creators: what have you done to ensure that your product can withstand the beating that it will take in a shop or worksite environment? In addition to this, I feel like the distances that they offer are not very much, particularly the pull cord, I definitely use more than the 10 feet regularly, and other ultrasonic tape measures can go much farther than 60 feet. However, my doubts aside, this looks like a cool concept, and the 60$ price tag certainly seems tasty for the amount of tech you're getting.
