Tips for Attacking Any Big Project

Elizabeth Spann Craig: I don’t know if y’all operate the same way, but I will allow large projects that I know will be time-sucks slide for a while…years, usually…until I finally end up squaring my shoulders and attacking them with gusto.

A common theme in a lot of articles on management and college life in general is increasing productivity and effectively managing time to get things accomplished. The structure of assignments in college and the school of drama is mostly long-term projects, and spacing out your work on those projects is crucial to being able to accomplish them. When many things are due in the same week that you have production calls or run crew, it's important to maximize the hours that you have to get everything done, because you already know that certain hours are completely unavailable. This structured schedule has actually been very useful for me in improving my planning skills in college so far, because knowing what I have to do far in advance without busywork in the way lets me break down tasks for different projects and classes over the days and hours that I have.
