You’ve got to be able to enjoy your job, and if you’re not, you are not only hurting yourself, but those around you who are also getting the negative vibes you’re sending out. My dad has been successful with his career, and he wanted me to be successful with mine, but his direction for me wasn’t the direction I wanted to go in. I had to tell him that I could be successful and also enjoy what I do to have the life I want to live. Why would you want to go into a career where you won’t be happy, but you’re doing it just to get by. Every day I do my best to have a positive attitude with my work, because it also eases on the stress even when the work around here is about to become fairly busy. I feel as though the misconceptions in the article are correct, about working to get the promotion, because at that point, you tend to shut others out, and work becomes your focus, you have to be able to find the balance between work and happiness.
