Both Sides in Metropolitan Opera Dispute Agree to Independent Financial Analysis

Lighting&Sound America Online - News: The threatened lockout at the Metropolitan Opera got a reprieve over the weekend, when the Met and two of the unions it is negotiating with agreed to keep working while an independent analyst examined the company's finances, The New York Times has reported.

I read an article on this labor dispute last year when they had not reached a compromise that was promising to find a resolution, and at the time, I essentially thought "I hope they get it worked out, so the Met can keep functioning". This is still true, but I think I have a little bit more context now.

I think, in general, labor disputes can be very complex issues, and at the very least, sometimes unclear as to who the party who was wronged in the first place was (or very clear depending on your associations). In this case. I understand that both sides are in a hard position finance wise. I think bringing in an independent financial opinion is a good idea for the beginning of productive talks
