Racking my brain, I can't remember the last time I attempted to sit down and do homework without some form of music playing. Having that separation of space that music gives you really makes me feel as if I am in the zone, which in turn makes it easier for me to get work done. Nothing gets someone pumped like their favorite song, and that rush of endorphins can make you work that much harder, if only for a few minutes at a time. Blocking out outside factors, be it idle chit-chat of your office mates or the clicking of the other keyboards surrounding you, means that you can engage only with your work and the soundscape you choose for yourself. Ambient beats seem to be the smartest choice to work with, due to the simple ebbs and flows as well as the simple beat structures. In layman's terms, music makes you work harder. Music helps you type comments, at least.
