Partnership's website to showcase arts, venues in region

TribLIVE: Renee Piechocki, director of the Office of Public Art, has sounded “a call for participation” for a new website that already is the home for 201 places offering art in all of its forms in the 13-county area.

This is incredible. And yet, I've never felt so uniformed and ignorant in my life. At first glance when I visited www.pittsburghartplaces.org, I thought 'I never had any idea there was so much in this town...' and admittedly, I didn't know much about Roberto Clemente or his statue until now (it was the first thing I looked up). But again, this is incredible, there is so much information here and I've never heard of most it. Apparently I keep myself locked up in Purnell more than I should...I'm definitely going to use this site to try and get out and find more and experience more art and cultural in this already beautiful city.

All cities with a strong presence of art should have one location in which many options are readily available to the public. Whenever I visit a new place, you want to know where all the good food, shopping, and art is located, so this website has the potential to be very successful and increase the appeal of art. Bringing a wide variety of art together in one centralized location draws attention. In such a thriving arts community, people can easily become overwhelmed and confused as to where they can go to take in some art, so this site is going to be very helpful to locals and tourists.
